BEYOND THE SKY -- by Steve Nadis

My wife told me that she's worried about our seven-year old daughter who said earlier tonight: "There's no heaven. It's just sky up there." I told my wife I wasn't sure we should be worrying about the fact that our daughter is right.

1 - Shame, shame, shame, Snake! That such a brilliant science writer should put his own prejudices before rational observation. You don't actually know what's up there. You only know what's been observed, which even the most dedicated astronomers and cosmologists admit is not even a fraction of what may be there.

Your daughter's opinion is perfectly valid, and show's a keen and curious mind. But when science talks about multi-dimensional universes, and multiverses, and one universe expanding while another is collapsing, only an unscientific parent would say that what has not been observed does not exist.

2 - I stand duly corrected, Gatemouth. I should have said: "we shouldn't worry about the fact that our daughter just might be right." (Comment this)
