MY 15 SECONDS — by Steve Nadis
But I tend to be a pessimist. And a worrier. And my worry is this: With all the fame and notoriety coming from the prominent mention in the Boston Globe (on page 6 of the City Weekly section, no less, below a letter about the poor health of sidewalk trees near the New England Medical Center), Call Me Snake might peak too quickly and then flame out in a blaze of glory. It’s happened to plenty of rock stars before (i.e., “this is the story of Johnny Rotten…”), and it could happen to this blog if I let success go to my head and succumb to all the groupies who now want a piece of me. I’ll try to be strong. I’ll try to resist. But better blogs than this have failed for the above reason, and who’s to say I’ll handle my celebrity more maturely than other stars have in the past? Time, it appears, will be the final arbiter. In the meantime, let’s all let out a big cheer. That’s right, slap yourselves on the back. You deserve it.
Wow, congrats Snake, the Boston Globe! We can say we knew you when. Not that it will keep you from having security throw us out if we show up at the mansion.
Thanks Doc for your support. As I’ve said many times before, I won’t forget all the “little people” whose heads I stepped on during my long march to the top.
So, uh, what exactly did you have to do to whom to get into the Boston Globe? I thought you were blogging for food, not fame.
Thanks for the note. The amazing part about it is that I didn’t have to do anything. They found me. But the "fame," such as it is, is fleeting. I said "15 seconds," & that’s no exaggeration. That’s how long it would take to read the entire discussion relating to "Call Me Snake"–and that’s if you’re a slow, ponderous reader.
I don’t just want a piece of you. I want all of you.
Why Turd Blossom, I didn’t know you cared! The thing is, I’m not sure I feel comfortable cozying up with a pile of cow droppings. At least, that’s how I see it now but of course my feelings could change.
Hey, congrats on the mention in the Boston Globe.
Thanks Sammy. I think "mention" is the correct term, as it was too short to be called a "writeup."
Mention, writeup, same thing! Publicity is publicity, eh?
You’re right, Sammy. I’m being too modest. Snake rules!
