NO MORE BULL ABOUT THAT DAMN BULLHORN, PLEASE! —- by Steve Nadis
As for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, the people there will rebuild, because that’s what they do after natural disasters. It seems to be an indomitable part of human nature. And this will happen despite the poor judgment exercised by our president–by appointing partisan hacks to key emergency management positions, as well as to other key posts, in an attempt to bring down the government he ostensibly is charged with leading. So “w,” will you please quit your transparent efforts to boost your sagging ratings in the polls, go back to your vacations and your lame duck term, and let these people get on with the task of rebuilding their cities and towns?
I suppose this isn’t especially nice and I know I told you to try to be more positive. Still it appears that somebody is becoming a blowhard about a certain bullhorn. Or so it seems to me.
Sorry about that, Lindsey. At least I’m not becoming a bullhard about the bullhorn.
Didja hear that Bush wasn’t even watching the news on TV on Sunday night after the storm? On Monday morning, his aides were arguing over who would have the unpleasant task of telling Dubya that he was going to have to end his vacation early. And then, on the flight down to New Orleans, Dubya watched a DVD of network news coverage created by his staff, because he doesn’t watch the news and didn’t know what was going on.
Thanks, TB, for this informative note. I’d almost say that is amazing, unbelievable, incredible. But in this case, I’m afraid, it’s all too credible.
Why IS it that every time "W" gets in a spot, I hear a big chopper or 2 overhead going either NE to SW (or the other way). 3 days after 9-11, TWO big military choppers flew overhead- real low- over the airport hill nearby [here in Epping, NH] Old man Dan Harvey said it was just Bush Sr. flying south to hold his son’s hand, again. I’ve since had others verify the same story. Sad. W’s truely a puppet.
Now that’s very interesting, Marco–something most of us have never heard anything about (and spreading rumors like this are what blogs were invented for!). The thing is, I was under the impression that W. didn’t listen to sr. that much. If he did, he might not have taken such totally extreme positions. But I still think you might be onto something…
Well if the Democrats can ever get their act together and get a President elected again, they should have a pretty easy time of it. Bush has lowered the bar on what we should expect from a Chief Executive. Recall how much government time and money went into investigating stains on a blue dress and a decades old land deal? Now we have billions missing in Iraq, Osama still free, nearly criminal response to a national disaster, and gosh, no investigations from the Republican controlled congress. Hilary should be able to kick back and relax for eight years.
Your logic is flawless, Doc. My only concern is that I felt the same way a few years back when Kerry took on "Dub." Let’s hope your argument wins out over my concern.
Sorry, DrMax, but the bar is only lowered when you control both houses of Congress, the media, the military, the CIA, the FBI, and the Supreme Court.
If Hillary manages to get elected, which seems very unlikely (her popularity is still pretty low nation-wide), she would be a handcuffed President at best. Unless, by some miracle, the rest of the nation gets a clue and throws out half the Republicans in Congress, demands real reporting from the media, tells the CIA and FBI to do its job and stop being political sock-puppets, and finds a couple of Thurgood Marshalls to appoint to the Supreme Court.
Oh, and just so you know, I will be sprouting wings and flying to Mars at about the same moment. So have your cameras ready.
Hey Gatemouth, I’m afraid you might be right. Hillary is supposed to be one heckuva campaigner but she’s also a lightning rod. I’m not sure she’s the best choice. Unfortunately, it’s not obvious who is the best choice, in this case, to take the presidency, & country as a whole, back from those scary people in office now.
Couldn’t agree more, Snake. I see all sorts of predictions about who’s going to be the next Democratic candidate, but none of them seem very convincing to me. Maybe that’s because none of the people mentioned has shown any real gumption or imagination. (Which, as I recall, was the problem with the last 2 Democratic candidates who ran for President.)
Yes, Gatemouth, the Democratic candidates were lacking in that (gumption) department. Except for Gore, who showed a lot of gumption in 2004. Unfortunately, he ran for office in 2000.
