GOOD NEWS FROM IRAQ! — by Steve Nadis
Have you heard about all the good news coming out of Iraq? The newspapers there are full of stories describing the triumphs of U.S.-Iraqi forces over the evil insurgents and touting the reconstruction efforts. The great part about it, at least from the Iraqi newspapers’ point of view, is that the U.S. military is actually paying them to print this uplifting stuff. This sheds a whole new light on the term “newsmakers.” Maybe they ought to be paying the U.S. papers as well, if they’re not doing that yet, so we can read some positive news from Iraq these days. In fact, maybe they should be paying me so that you can read some positive news from this blog. Who’s to say I haven’t been paid off already?

Oh they are doing it Snake, remember Armstrong Williams and Jeff Gannon? While not Defense Dept shills they show the importance that fiction has played in the Bush administration.
Thanks for the reminder Doc. I’ve heard a fair amount about Gannon, though maybe not about Williams. Why do they still call it a "free press"? Maybe they ought to call it a "fee press" instead.
