STANDING FIRM ON TORTURE ———— by Steve Nadis

For awhile, it looked like Bush was going to wimp out and abide by the anti-torture provisions he claimed to endorse. But not to worry. Bush will do nothing of the sort. He’s set the best legal minds in the country to the task of finding loopholes in the bill he signed last week ostensibly banning torture. That bill, too, will do nothing of the sort, since Bush and his helpers have no intention of abiding by the statutes advanced by John McCain. (McCain, in case you hadn’t heard, is “weak” on torture. [Or maybe I should say "soft."] And “abiding,” in case you hadn’t heard, is for “losers.”)

At least you have a choose, in some country, you pay high tax and still have no chance to vote for the country leader……

Happy New Year! Welcome back! And when will W stop torturing us and resign? I”m so embarassed that he is our president. I thought having an actor for president was bad but that was nothing compared to having a frat boy running the country.

See, this just shows how little creativity there is in the Bush administration. Because if they really want to torture, they should just lock the prisoners in a small cell with a dozen unfed, dirty diapered, cholicky, ear-infected and rhino-virus infested toddlers. That would crack anyone. And the best part is, you don”t need secret prisons to do it. You can use any daycare center in the world.

Just doing my part to take the "tort" out of "torture"…

  6. Snake says:

The "daddy day care" solution? Interesting suggestion, Gatemouth. I also agree w/TB — Z has brought free verse to the blogosphere. I had never seen the term "psychopath" applied to Bush and his gang but it seems appropriate, particularly with regard to the lack of remorse. And yes, Roses, he is an embarrassment and a disgrace. But as Lillie wisely pointed out, we (as in the "American people") actually voted this guy into office, perhaps with the help of some voter fraud. Be that as it may, we had a choice and large numbers of people voted for this guy. And brought on this travesty.

There should be a complete and medically proven system to torture. Why not truth serum? Can”t we say: breaking the four smaller toes is ok, just not the Big Toe. Re-circumcision is allowed if the utensils are sterilized between prisoners, and proper medical care to prevent infection.
I think a shot of influenza with a little psychological game of "We gave you poison, tell us what we want to know and we will administer the antidote." I mean, Flu makes you wish you were dead, right? Inserting grub-worms into the ear canal is a great primer. Some Psychotropic drugs and a bucket of pig’’s blood and I GUARANTEE they will tell me what I want to know…

Well Dick Cheney was determined to show us the "dark side." Now we”re starting to see what that has wrought.

Hey Z, e.e.cummings was a famous poet known for his playful use of language. Trust me, it’’s a flattering comparison.
