THE LOST FEW MINUTES OF LOST —— by Steve Nadis
Last week, after a six-week hiatus that I formally refer to as the “Lost without Lost” period, ABC aired two consecutive 1-hour episodes of its hit TV drama. The first, called “Lost Revelations” I believe, was a recap that, according to the Globe TV critic, was “only for obsessives and addicts.” I skipped that figuring I’m not as bad off as all that. But I was interrupted during last night’s episode–one of those kids acting up or maybe it was the cat–and missed the final few minutes. I could have just let it go but instead I took the extreme measure of sending an email to someone I thought (correctly) might have seen it. He told me I didn’t miss anything: “They just went back to the beach.”
That bit of information–that “they” went back to the beach–hardly seems worth reporting here (although the bar is set pretty low) or anywhere for that matter. I only bring it up because a normal person probably would have “let it go.” Am I becoming an obsessive and addict–the kind of person the Globe critic Matthew Gilbert referred to? I hope not, though I fear this could represent another low point for a person who, until recently, claimed not to watch TV at all. What new depths might I descend to? Only time–and additional TV viewing–will tell.

Touche, Monsieur Steve. Lost a few minutes of lost–
OK, OK, we get it, you didn’t want to miss the last few minutes of Lost. It sunk in after the third duplicate entry. I’m betting this is just a technical glitch and not the product of a wormhole disturbing the fabric of space-time and allowing your entries from alternate dimensions to appear on this reality.
Thanks for alerting me to this technical problem, WW & Dr. M. I tried to edit the post & it didn’t work; instead it keep reposting the same thing. I hope you didn’t lose too many minutes trying read the lost few minutes of lost.
Great blog! I stumbled upon you (ouch!) after Googling "Spooky World" while in the midst of a maudlin Alice Cooper funk (aka: now, just WHERE did I leave my lost youth???) and I THOUGHT I remembered meeting him there - but that couldn’t be - because I think he dissed me and he would never have done that - because doesn’t he know we were MEANT to be together??? Anyway, Rock On, Mr. Snake

I’m LOST since I don’t watch LOST. I’m useless. Even with all my money.
I too was lost without lost. But then I found it during the summer rerun season. With all your money you could rent the DVD for season one though perhaps you have better ways of spending your time.
As long as you haven’t gotten to the point where you watch the recap shows, I say you aren’t an obsessive/addict. So you missed the last few minutes and wanted to know what happened; that’s normal.

Actually, you could go lower and get addicted to Law & Order, all flavors. Like me. It’s the only television I watch. Now THAT’S pathetic!

Thanks Z for the lost story with a happy ending–a variant on Lost and Found." Thank you Roses for that cautionary tale; I’ve stayed clear of Law&Order for that very reason–because it’s on overnight. And thank you too Great Saphenous. I always appreciate words of praise. Plus it’s reassuring to hear I’m not yet an addict/obsessive.
