WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS HEADLINE? — by Steve Nadis
Then there was the lead story in yesterday’s Boston Globe about gaps in Bush’s budget: “Plan would cut funding aimed at conservation.” The budget advanced by the Bush administration slashed $100 million in federal programs promoting energy conservation–this on the heels of the State of the Union address in which the president admonished his subjects for their addiction to oil.
By now it’s painfully obvious that officials in this administration, Bush and Cheney in particular, will say anything–without regard to truth, logic, or common sense. There’s no point in complaining about it; that’s just what they do. But why do we listen?
I guess too many feel their input doesn’t matter.
That is strange Snake. In a country where fake reality shows like American Idol and Survivor rule, it is so weird that complete claptrap from this administration is NEVER questioned by the media.
Media ?? One of its definitions is “a culture medium”.
Medium for propagnada, I think.
Too bad there isn’t any real reporting anymore.
News release reading and the concoctions of those embedded with our troops–is little better than fake reality. But life-by-cable-entetainment sells well.
Only distantly related note: did you see someone’s selling articles of impeachment for Bush on eBay? No joke. Or maybe it is a joke. But it looks legit.
Here’s the link, if it will work on this blog. (I’ve had troubles inserting links here before.)

Whoops! Looks like links still don’t work very well on this blog. Oh well… If you go to ebay and search for “articles of impeachment” or something like that, it will probably come up.
Somebody, please, call his bluff! During the SOU, I kept waiting for the Dems to stand up and scream “I call bullshit”. It’s like the emporer’s new clothes. Why can’t anyone see that they’re naked?
You’re right, Roses. It’s outrageous. So where’s the outrage? Thanks for the tip, Gatemouth. Sounds intriguing. I’ll check it out. Doc, yer right, what can I say? And thanks Ardi, people feel their input doesn’t matter–and for good reason. Bush & co. couldn’t care less what you think. They’re so far beyond that…
That is one very diabolically ironic headline! I wonder if the reporter or editor behind the headline kept a straight face while typing it in for the layout?
p.s. @gatemouth, you might find http://tinyurl.com/ useful for those annoying long urls that get chopped in various sites.
It’s irresponsible to print something like that unless it is obviously supposed to be ironic.
I say toss’em all out and let’s start over.
That’s a Capitol idea.
