QUOTE OF THE DAY — by Steve Nadis
Now for a bit of background to prepare you for the quote, so you don’t come into it completely cold: As I said before, I’m working on a project that relates to the universe, and given the breadth of the subject, I’ve had to read through a lot of material–you might say “volumes” or, better yet, “reams” of material. In the course of this reading, while sifting through the reams and volumes, I happened upon the Weinberg quote, which I’ll share with you now: “With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil. But for good people to do evil–that takes religion.”
I like the new added feature. It’ll keep you off your bicycle and away from a life of crime.
Back to today’s issue:
Religion is mighty good excuse to harm your neighbor. And good people need a good excuse. Whatever helps them sleep at night, anyhow.
Thanks FW for steering me back to the straight & narrow…
FW is one witty woman! How can I follow that comment? I agree with the quote. It’s one reason I’m not much of an “organized religion follower.”
FW is tough to follow which is why it’s sometimes easier to get there first.
ZARDOZ SAYS:

Thanks for the sentiment, Z, no matter how you spell it.
Oh, bollocks, Steve. For good people to do evil takes *ideology* elevated over human life. It’s just that up until about 150 years ago, there were no ideologies that weren’t religions.
Thank you Miss Conduct; it’s rare that a real celebrity will deign to comment in this space. When it comes to human conduct, I’m going to defer to your judgment. By the way, which “Steve” were you correcting here–Steve Weinberg or me?
