BACK IN THE SADDLE — by Steve Nadis

I’ve been gone a week, though it seems longer, “fishing” as it were. But now I’m back and it’s time to catch up. Not only was I not working last week, or contributing to public discourse through the forum known as “Call Me Snake,” I also fell way behind on my TV viewing. Upon returning tonight, I caught my favorite show, “The Office.” During one of the “commercial breaks,” they aired an ad for a new horror movie called “The Hitcher” that will open on January 19. That’s 15 days away–actually 14 days away now–and I don’t think I can wait that long. Not that the movie looks good. Quite the contrary. But still, 15 days is a long time, especially after watching a few scenes of the hitcher terrorizing the typical teenager or 20-something couple in the relentless fashion demanded by this genre. Now that we’ve gotten a taste of that, can we wait two whole weeks? And if we do, miraculously, manage to get through those two long, arduous weeks of waiting, who in his right mind will bother to see the movie?

welcome back! Just in time to witness the arrival of Winter the beginning of next week (You’ll see ;)
Re: 2 week wait- U are suffering from “time-expansion” syndrome, Snake.
Travelling afar over a period of only days (& doing a lot), returning to the hum-drum of home life throws one’s time-space perceptions off (hence the ‘odd’ hallway). Of all people you should be aware of this, BUT.. you are it’s victim here, as are other related brain functions. :)

Thanks for the warning, MP. I knew something was off.

And I say, who would want to waste time on a bad movie when there are things of quality to see, such as “The Office?” I think it’s one of the best things on TV!

  4. Snake says:

Thanks Daphne — I agree with everything you said, including the fact (implicit) that what I just wrote was nonsense.

  5. Welcome back Snake! I don’t know that movie, but “Duel in the Sun” was on again. I guess you never got around to viewing it. I added your blog to my new blogroll so I obviously don’t think you write nonsense.

Welcome back! I agree. Two weeks is waaaaay too long to have to wait for a movie. Surely it’s on YouTube, isn’t that what the site is for?

Good to hear from you OR & WFW! I think you’re right, OR, though I’ve never been too clear what that YouTube is all about. My DVD/VCR has been broken for awhile. As soon as it’s fixed or replaced, I’ll have to see “Duel in the Sun.” I’ve been hearing a lot about it in the past year or so…

  8. Marco Polo says:

“fixed”? Your DVD/VCR? Snake, it ain’t 1984 anymore! LOL If she’s bust’d, throw it on the dump ferry & drive out to Mal-Wart in your Ford SUV (made w/ Korean parts ;) & buy another finely assembled Chinese video ‘escape-box’, made using G.E.-designed nooklear power… & chinese dirt-coal. Ya gotta luv those slanty-eyed elves working so diligently in such dirty conditions…for so little, to placate us greedy American kids! (tongue-in-cheek)
Ship it to me. I fix ‘em!

  9. Snake says:

Thanks MP — I’ll mail it now along w/a bunch of old VCRs & answering machines(???) I’m still hanging onto…

Jeez, Snake, your living room must look like a scene from McCarthy’s new book, “The Road”… all you need is a shopping cart, a holocaust, and a young boy.

  11. Snake says:

I admit, it is a scary place.
