CONFLICT RESOLUTION — by Steve Nadis
Saw this in yesterday’s Metro, my sudoku paper (do you sudoku?): “A Mattapan man with a history of conflict with his father allegedly ended the longstanding feud by bludgeoning the man to death, dismembering the body and spreading parts of it–including the head–in a Roxbury backyard.”
EDITOR’S NOTE: This is exactly the kind of behavior that gives “conflict resolution”–as well as “anger management”–a bad name. Brings to mind the oft-quoted query posed by American folk hero Rodney King: “Can’t we all get along?”

I understand that the guy is going to use the “Executive Example” defense, which, in layman’s terms, means he was only trying to do the right thing by following the President’s own protocol for conflict resolution.
“I was only supporting our troops,” the man said. “I mean, if we’re over here working things out peacefully while they’re killing people, what are they supposed to think? No, the President has shown us the way. Black or white, rich or poor, man or woman, gays, straights, Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists–it’s time to get off the tolerance train. Talk to the gun, people, because the head’s ain’t listening no more.”
Are you suggesting that what this guy has done to his father, Bush has done to an entire country? And if so, which country: Iraq or the US of A?
Hey, it’s not my argument. It’s the defendant’s (and his lawyers). But I think it’s safe to say that there isn’t much–in this country or Iraq–that Bush hasn’t bludgeoned, dismembered, and dispersed over a wide area.
Personally, I think he managed his anger and resolved the conflict quite nicely. I really don’t understand what all the fuss is about. Of course, one can only hope that he has at least one son himself . . .
You sound a bit callous, OR, but certainly fair…
Eeewwwwwww! {& just yesterday we were pondering clean T-shirts w/ a cute logo.}
Re: Backyard- So was this son out to display his handiwork… or fertilize for next Spring?
I believe that should be “American Folk Hero/Angel-Duster.”
BTW, we are awaiting your comments regarding Anna Nicole Smith.
Thanks for the qualification, TB. As for that other matter, I’m going to refrain from comment while awaiting the results of the autopsy. MP, you raise some good questions for which we may well have some answers in the spring.
