MARKED FOR DELETION — by Steve Nadis
An acquaintance of mine (I’d say “friend,” as we are friendly but then again we’ve never met which is why used the former term) has been served notice about his WIKIPEDIA entry. Here’s what they had to say:
“This article or section is written like an advertisement. Please help rewrite this article from a neutral point of view per Wikipedia policy. Mark blatant advertising for speedy deletion… This Article needs sources or references that appear in reliable, third-party publications. Alone, primary sources and sources affiliated with the subject of this article are not sufficient for an accurate encyclopedia article. Please include more appropriate citations from reliable sources. This article has been tagged since May 2007.”
That’s rather harsh, if you ask me. It makes me glad that I don’t have a WIKIPEDIA entry for if I did who knows what unkind things (regarding self-promotion and the like) they’d be liable to say.
Well, tell us what his entry is so we can at least read it before it gets deleted!
-Molly
I 2nd that. Or at-LEAST tell us the Subject of his advertismentishy mono-torial… submission! -Marco Polo
Sorry for being a spoilsport, M & MP, but I don’t name names. The takehome message is that if your WIKI bio reads like it’s been written by your PR corps, it may be “tagged for deletion.”
