I’ve never met a dental hygienist who’s not extremely chatty. It seems to be a prerequisite for the job. And they always seem to ask you a big question when your mouth is filled with hardware. Come to think of it, that’s not a bad tactic. I’ll have to try it out next time I’m stuck with a bore.
