BLOWN AWAY FROM HER — by Steve Nadis

I just saw the movie “Away From Her” on DVD and, as the title suggests, I was blown away. It is definitely not a “feel-good” movie as the subject is Alzheimer’s. But I can’t recall having seen a more moving and poignant picture in years. It is especially impressive that such a trenchant movie about aging was written and directed by a relative youngster, Sarah Polley. I’m going to give this one five stars out of four on the Snake-ometer.

Speaking of being ‘blown away’, if you like an intelligent study of a serial killer, the new CD release, ‘Mr Brooks’,
is well worth the rental. Far more complex than I imagined it would be, w/ a bit of a twist at the end.
A lot of room to work with for a sequel which there undoubtedly will be.
    >”Independant film”. Top actors/actresses. Good adaption of the book. Good character development.
I give it 4.5 out of 5 sausages. Rare from me.
    (I’m a tough critic;)
Warning: graphic violence, brief nudity… & at times, simply abominable language!
