HE’S OK WITH IT — by Steve Nadis
A Boston Globe article yesterday about Hillary Clinton’s possible appointment as Secretary of State got a quote from an unlikely source: a yogurt maker who said that Hillary was cool with him, and he thought that might prove to be a “brilliant” choice. I don’t want to knock the guy. In fact, I went to college with him and he’s a really nice fellow. I’d even call him a friend if I knew him better. But I’m still not sure why a reporter from the Boston Globe went all the way to New Hampshire for a quote when he could have just as easily gotten one from a handball player in Cambridge.

Because the left-wing liberal, Democratic Boston press goes a-ga-ga over this rich, environmentally-conscious Jew-ish fellow, likley ‘cuz he got all that press from “Gore & such” just a few short years ago, w/ his Rockypasture Co.
IF he’s the guy I’m thinking of. (G.H? He was in my sister’s Hi-School graduating class.)
In reality he doesn’t practice what he preaches.
You’d think his home would be energy self-sufficient.
Far from it (even though he has the resources & contacts).
He’s the butt of my late-night coffee-drinkin’ buddies’ jokes on many a night…
but I’m not knockin’ the yogurt.
OK Anon, I hear what yer sayin’. But please hear what I’m saying: I actually LIKE this guy from NH & don’t want to knock him. He was always nice to me back in school & the times I’ve seen him since. Yet it did strike me as odd that he was quoted about Hillary’s possible appointment rather than some scholar at the Kennedy School. I just figure the reporter was probably friends w/him. And why wouldn’t that reporter be friends w/him? He’s a nice guy.

That leaves the question, Is Clinton a “brilliant” choice? I’ve wrestled with it and in the end can only conclude as follows: We accept Obama is brilliant, and therefore, if he chooses Clinton, we can only accept that choice is brilliant too, however it may appear–mixed bag, baggage, what have you.
I agree that it probably is mixed. A brilliant man yes but of all the politics-laden decisions, it’s clear that some & probably many will not be brilliant. this I believe… –S
I have some theories as to why Obama didn’t outright offer the job to the honorable, thoroughly diplomatic and canny Bill Richardson. It appears that the latter is yet another victim, like Gore before him, of Lewinsky-gate. Apparently he testified to less than he knew about the affair and I imagine that this is the skeleton the Obama team fears seeing dragged out. As a result, Bill Clinton’s tarnished-brass brilliance has positioned him to carry on the family name as the convoluted offshoot of his lewd peccadillo in the oval office and his cigar tricks. Getting rid of a Clinton is like getting rid of tooth decay.
Interesting theory GM. I’ve got to think about this one. And floss. –S
