PROVIDENCE STILL LEAVES HIM AT A LOSS — by Steve Nadis

This morning after school drop-off, I again ran into my friend who was off to Providence for a business trip. After informing me of said outing, she waited for my witty rejoinder. But none was forthcoming. I guess I just don’t get Providence. Nor have I solved the humor challenge that it poses.

“In times of need, doesn’t everyone turn to Providence?”

    “Providence will provide.”

    or waxing historical:
“Ah, just like in the Declaration of Independence, you do all endeavors ‘with a firm reliance on Providence.’”

And there’s more, but I fear none of them will ever make the vaudeville circuit.

Thanks PDL & GM. Now that I’m ready, I’ll probably never get the chance to unleash my Providence riposte. –S
