THE ROAR — by Steve Nadis

I think it was about 10:45 last night. I was trying to work when I heard a loud roar washing over my Riverside (Cambridge) neighborhood. It seemed to be coming from Fenway, and I knew something amazing had just happened. So I turned on my radio and heard that Ellsbury had just stole home. A minute later, the roar continued. I ran upstairs and watched the replay on TV, knowing that I had already missed that magical moment.

  1. I have a friend who heard that play on the radio, and he wished he’d seen it on TV. I bet the people who saw it on TV wish they’d been at Fenway, and I bet the people there wish they were the one who’d done it. Only Ellsbury can truly savor that moment.

Well said, GM. I missed the moment but was awed by its aftermath–a wave of sound that swept over Cambridge… –S
