TAKING THE SERVICE ENTRANCE–by Steve Nadis

Earlier this week I met with some people at a laboratory housed within a company on the North Shore. I took the commuter train from Beverly and then biked a few miles to the lab, guided by Google Maps. The train was late, which put me behind schedule for my appointment, and the route was messed up as the road I was taking came to an abrupt end. I followed a path to the back lot of the facility, but it was surrounded by a fence with barbed wire. I locked my bike and found a place where the fence was wood (with no barbed wire). I scaled the fence and made my way to the back entrance. Fortunately, I was not shot climbing over the fence (in either direction). I am probably the first person in history to have met with that company’s CEO after entering the way I did.
