A PERSON OF INTEREST -- by Steve Nadis

By now, many of you may have heard about the man from Hopkinton, Mass. who evidently fled the country soon after his wife and young daughter were shot to death, and went back to his native England where he refuses to cooperate with the police. I have no idea whether this man, whom Massachusetts authorities call a "person of interest," had anything to do with the terrible crimes that occurred in his home. But his behavior since those horrific acts--including his apparent unwillingness to go home for the funerals--has done nothing to quell suspicion.

Is it a crime to act guilty even if you may not have committed the crimes you are suspected of? Some clues may come from The Stranger by Albert Camus. That guy (Mersault) was condemned for not crying at his mother's funeral. This guy won't even attend the funeral--perhaps out of fear that he, like Mersault, would not be able to muster any tears.

1 - What IS with all the men "allegedly" killing their wives and children? Is it in the water? It's all over the place. It's becoming an epidemic. I'm scareder (is that a word) of it than the avian flu. (Comment this)

2 - Interesting indeed. It may not be criminal to act guilty, but I hope if he is, it leads to the clues to solve the crime. WFM, more fear for death-by-hubby, than by the avian flu seems right to me. There are only 80 deaths worldwide total from a.f., while one woman every 6 hours dies in the U.S. as a result of spousal abuse. But see who's getting rich off Tamiflu  (Comment this)

3 - Yes folks it's sordid business. I should say, however, that the husband in this case is not yet considered a "suspect." They're still calling him a "person of interest." And I'm sure he's getting plenty of attention. (Comment this)

4 - If he is really not a suspect, I'll eat my hat. If he is really not the killer, and he has not been arrested and hauled back, he must be afraid of something. Does he have some information on the mob or CIA or NSA, and they threatened him, but got to his family and somehow he got away. Is he any relation to John Entwhistle of the Who? This thing is already too bizarre, and sad and scary. (Comment this)

5 - You're right Quasi, who knows what he did but he's sure acting like a guilty person. And, as you say, it is both strange & sad, especially the latter. (Comment this)

6 - Who? Whoa. Wait a minute. I knew this guy from Hopkington. In fact I even went to Sunday school with him. (right...)
He was a "nice guy". Apparently he's a Ruthless Killer now but, HEY, we ALL have issues! :/ :\ :)) :)) ;)~
